Terms of Service

The lessee of any and all equipment provided by Seaside Cycles, Inc. (the lessor) agrees to release Seaside Cycles, and employees there of, from any liability, causes of action, or claims from the proper or improper operation of the equipment rented from the lessor.

The lessee agrees to pay all charges in full, including damages and late fees, which may accrue over the length of this agreement. It is agreed that the lessee will return any and all equipment in the same condition that the equipment was received by the lessee, with the express exception of normal wear and tear. Lessee is solely liable for misplaced, lost, unsecured, abused or damaged equipment provided by the lessor.

While it is our desire for each and every customer to enjoy their bike riding experience we do allow our bikes to be ridden on the beach, but not in the saltwater. Beach cruiser bikes ridden in saltwater will be assessed a minimum of $20 for damage, if cost to repair is in excess of the minimum fee the true cost of repair, including parts and labor, will be charged to lessee. Adult tricycles and tandem bicycles may not be ridden on the beach under any circumstance. The minimum assessed charge for adult tricycles and tandem bicycles taken on the beach is $50. Seaside Cycles, Inc. in its’ sole discretion, based on many years of experience providing rental equipment in a beach environment, will judge whether bikes have been ridden on the beach or in the ocean. Lessee agrees that any and all charges of this fee will be charged to the credit card that they provided as the security deposit when the order was placed.

Charges to lessee for initial rental cost will be made after Seaside Cycles, Inc. delivers equipment. In the event lessee changes or cancels the rental 8 or more days prior to delivery, changes will be free and there will be a 5% fee to cancel.  For cancellations or changes within 7 days of delivery, a  fee in the amount of $15 per item removed from the order will apply unless replaced with a different item, in which case there will not be a fee. If bikes have already been delivered, and customer cancels the order on the day of delivery, $20 per bike will be charged. If bikes have been onsite for a day or more, the prevailing rate for the bike will be charged. In the event of an emergency that causes a reservation to be cancelled, we may ask for documentation to support the cancellation and no fees will apply.  In the event of a named tropical storm, we will not charge a cancellation fee.  If a named tropical storm shortens your stay, we will charge the prevailing rate for the number of days the bikes have been available for use.  In the event a evacuation order is given, we will begin removing ALL bikes from the island immediately. Removal will begin prior to the effective date and time that the evacuation order goes into effect so that we can take the appropriate steps to protect our families.

Unless otherwise agreed upon by both parties, deliveries will occur prior to 5:00 pm on delivery day, with the exception of Saturdays during peak season (June, July, and August), due to the high turnover on those days, deliveries may occur any time prior to 8:00 pm. Pick up may occur as early as 7:00 am on departure day. Please notify Seaside Cycles, Inc. with any requests for a specific delivery or pick up time. You may do so by phone at 843-768-5080 or by using the comments section on order page of website. While we cannot guarantee a different time we will make every effort to accommodate any reasonable request.

Information from the Town of Kiawah Island:

To preserve the nature of our island, and to promote a positive experience for renters and residents, the Town of Kiawah Island has implemented a Short Term Rental Ordinance that took affect 1-1-2020. The Section copied below directly relates to bicycles, and other equipment that we provide.

(f) Bicycles, beach gear, and other personal articles shall not be visible from the street side or adjoining properties for all single-family dwellings and multi-family dwellings. These articles shall be placed in the appropriate storage location overnight and shall not be left in a driveway, yard, or parking lot. No articles of clothing, beach towels, or other items shall be draped over railings or deck chairs or be visible beyond property lines.

1) Villa complexes shall provide adequate bicycle racks for overnight bicycle
storage. All other gear shall be stored indoors or in provided storage closets.

Property owners and Rental Agencies will be providing details on where to store these items. Please store all bikes and equipment in accordance with the instructions provided by the property owner or rental agency. If your bikes are stored inside, we ask that you place them outside of the property on the morning of your pickup. Bikes not accessible at pickup will be charged for each additional day at the daily rental rate until we are able to retrieve them. We have partnered with several property owners and rental agencies and they have provided us with access to the garage or storage areas. We will open the garage or storage and remove the bikes on the day of departure from these homes. This information will be communicated by the rental contact when booking the property if it was not it is your responsibility to place the bikes outside for pickup.

KICA Rules of Operation for Cyclists and Skaters:

  • Leisure trails are provided throughout Kiawah Island for your safety. It is unsafe, thereby prohibited, to ride/skate on any roads where there is a parallel leisure trail available, particularly Kiawah Island Parkway, Governor’s Drive, Ocean Course Drive and portions of Flyway Drive. Please keep to the right on trails. Golf cart paths are reserved for motorized golf carts.
  • When riding on a secondary residential street, with no leisure trail, ride single file, near the curb, with traffic.
  • Observe all traffic regulations, including STOP signs.
  • Kiawah’s dunes are vital to our natural habitat and serve as critical storm protection. Walking or riding on the dunes is strictly prohibited.
  • Watch for joggers, pedestrians and children. Because you share the trails, racing and speed- or trick- riding, are prohibited. For the same reason, walk – do not bike or skate – on the boardwalks.
  • Announce your presence when approaching from behind or passing others.
  • Motorized equipment is not permitted (scooters, carts, etc.).
  • Riding or skating after dark is dangerous. Only bikes equipped with reflectors and lights may be ridden after dark. We strongly recommend reflective or light-colored clothing be worn after dark. A helmet and horn/bell are recommended for riding at any time.
  • Make use of bike racks provided at numerous locations around the island. Always lock unattended equipment. On your property, store bikes out of sight when not in use. (Your bike rental company may impose penalties, such as loss of deposit, when it collects unsecured bikes.)
  • A KICA tag on a bicycle does not grant permission to access Kiawah Island. The bike must be enrolled in a valid program with a registered rental company.
  • Please enjoy the natural beauty of Kiawah Island and help us to preserve it. Do not litter, destroy vegetation, or otherwise disturb the environment.
  • Beach areas are available for your use; however, most bike vendors require that you not ride in salt water.
  • Other association or local rules and regulations may apply.
